On any given night at a number of establishments in Cook County, one can see friends and family gathered for sociable competitions, such as Texas Hold ’em at The Howl ‘n Wolf on Mondays or trivia at the American Legion on Tuesdays, at the Gunflint Tavern on Wednesdays, or at Sven & Ole’s on Thursdays.
To make these lively events a bit more interesting, the Cook County News-Herald periodically publishes the winners.
At the American Legion on August 8, a special evening took place, dubbed “Ranger Bob’s Pre-Retirement Trivia Party.” The trivia—and the prizes—followed a “This Is Your Life” theme for Bob Maki of Grand Marais, a soon-to-retire Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) forester.
Ranger Bob added special thanks to Nancy Person for doing the calling and to “Arnold and his traveling Red Green Show.”
