Cook County Food Shelf needs help

Volunteers working at a food shelf are obviously enjoying their “labor of love.” The local food shelf is in need of help. If you have any free time and like to help your fellow citizens, please volunteer for the food shelf.

The Cook County Food Shelf is again in need of volunteers.

Summer has traditionally been hard to schedule volunteers because of flexible vacations. This year volunteers at the food shelf are again experiencing an influx of food shelf clients who are new to the area—word of the food shelf comes from people they work with, or their employers. Food shelf volunteers are here to help anyone with food insecurity.

Cook County Food Shelf hours are every Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the First Congregational Church at Second Street and Third Avenue West, and on the first Wednesday of the month.

For more information, or to volunteer, call (218) 387-9860 or (218) 387-2113.
