Cook County Earth Day Fair

After the smashing success of the event in 2022, the Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP), Zero Waste Cook County, and the Cook County Climate Action Team are pleased to announce that Cook County Earth Day Fair is back for its second year. Mark your calendar for April 22, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This zero-waste event will take place at the Cook County Community Center and Log Cabin and will highlight 40 informational and interactive booths comprised of local organizations.

This event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Join in on the fun with interactive stations, activities, games for kids, and story time with the Grand Marais Library. Enjoy live music performances by André and the GES Rappers, Ben Nicols, Zahir Orest, and the Dan NelsonTrio. Delicious food will be provided for sale by the Crooked Spoon, Shook, and Crosby Bakery. The informative speaker sessions in the log cabin will address topics of our natural resources, local policy, and reduce-reuse strategies.

Community members who attend will have the opportunity to learn sustainable behaviors and practices, how to be more self-sufficient, and the ways that the Cook County community is moving toward the state of Minnesota’s requirement to be carbon neutral by 2050.

Being a Zero Waste Event, 90 percent of the waste will be diverted from the landfill. If you can, bring your own bag, your own travel mug, eating utensils, and containers.

Remember that volunteers are the beating heart of making this special event a reality for Cook County. Please consider donating some of your time to volunteer with us!
