Six delegates represented Cook County voters at this year’s State DFL Convention in Rochester, June 1-3. Judi Barsness, Pat Campanaro, Denny FitzPatrick, Greg Gailen, Rena Rogers, and John Thompson attended the three-day session.
The delegates endorsed Erin Murphy and Erin Maye Quade for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Matt Pelikan was endorsed for State Attorney General, Steve Simon for Secretary of State, Julie Blaha for State Auditor. Senator Amy Klobuchar and Senator Tina Smith were endorsed for U.S. Senate.
Over the long weekend delegates also voted for more than 60 resolutions to the party platform.
Most of the resolutions passed at the Cook County DFL Convention advanced to the State Platform of Action Agenda Resolutions. These resolutions included support for clean water, health care for all, gender equality, racial justice, and opposition to neonicotinoids and copper nickel mining.
To his fellow delegates afterward Denny Fitzpatrick said, “It was a daunting task on many levels, and you did it, proud of you, proud to have been a part of it. Let’s keep persisting.”
