Cook County has seen four new COVID-19 cases in the last seven days, bringing the total number to 122 since the start of the pandemic.
The infected individuals were two males, one in their thirties and the other in his fifties, and two females, both in their twenties.
Cook County is the only Minnesota county with no reports of a death due to COVID-19. Lake of the Woods has one reported death and Lincoln County has two reported deaths.
As of March 16, in Minnesota there were 498,926 total positive cases of COVID-19 and 6,815 deaths attributed to the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
As of March 16, there were 2,375 Cook County residents who had at least one vaccination for COVID-19, and 1,734 folks who had completed two doses.
To date, 91 percent of the county residents over age 65 have had at least one vaccination for the coronavirus.
On Thursday, March 18, approximately 100 people received their second dose of the vaccine and approximately 300 people received their first dose. This is a two-dose vaccination series using the Moderna vaccine, and all individuals are automatically registered for their second dose appointment when receiving their first dose.
As far as the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, it is not known when or if the county will receive that one shot vaccination.
This past week officials from the Cook County Emergency Operations Center and Sawtooth Mountain Clinic announced that eligibility for this week’s vaccination event will follow the State of Minnesota’s expanded eligibility criteria.
On Thursday, March 18, at the Cook County Community Center those eligible for a vaccination included 65 and older, a caregiver (someone who supports daily living activities for older adults or those living with chronic conditions or disabilities), someone age 50 plus who lives in a multi-generational household or someone who works agriculture, airport staff, corrections, education (childcare, K-12 schools, youth enrichment programs), healthcare, First Responder (fire, law enforcement, EMS), food processing, food retail, food service (grocery, convenience store, food shelf, bakery, bars, restaurant, café, winery, brewery, catering), judicial system, manufacturing, public transit, postal service workers, age 45-64 with at least one underlying health condition or 18-44 with at least two underlying health conditions that put you at higher risk for COVID-19, or a patient of the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic age 50-64 who lives with a social stressor that puts them at higher risk for COVID-19.

To register, individuals will need to complete a pre-registration survey and provide your name, address, phone number, date of birth, and a valid email address.
