Cook County COVID-19 update



Cook County has had 121 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. Three new cases were reported over the last few days.

No deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 in Cook County.

Throughout Minnesota, there were 490,011 positive cases of COVID-19 with 6,550 deaths attributed to the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic through March 7, 2021.

Cook County is the only Minnesota county with no reports of a death due to COVID-19. Lake of the Woods has one reported death and Lincoln County has two deaths.

In her briefing to the Cook County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, March 9, Cook County Public Health Coordinator Grace Grinager said that as of March 9: 2,374 Cook County residents have had at least one vaccination for COVID-19, and 1,734 folks have completed two doses.

Grinager told the board that 91 percent of the county residents over 65 have had at least one vaccination for the coronavirus. She added that 100 people were scheduled for their first COVID-19 vaccinations on Thursday, March 11. Additionally, the county Coronavirus Response Hub reported 300 individuals would be receiving their second doses of COVID-19 vaccine this week.

Registration for vaccines opens each Monday at 8 a.m. for the next available clinics. The latest COVID-19 updates can be found on the Cook County Coronavirus Response Hub. If you do not have access to the Internet or need additional help signing up for an appointment, call 218-387-3668.

Cook County Public Health will continue to post information about who is eligible to register for a vaccine as well as how people in that group can sign up.
