With the arrival of warm weather, Cook County, MN will experience the influx of tourists, outdoor events and activities, and the inevitable road construction. While disruptive, these projects bring much needed improvements to the roads upon which we are so dependent. Harsh winter weather damages our roads, and there is a short window of time for repairs to be completed.
We will announce upcoming road projects as they are approved. The first of which is the much-needed CR 45 Pike Lake Road Reconstruction. This will take place from May 23 through September 2022. The specific location will be CR 44 to CR 7, Cascade River west to Babineau Corner, Pike Lake.
“Yearly flooding, higher than average maintenance costs and safety concerns at intersections and curves make this road reconstruction project a high priority,” said County Engineer Robert Hass. “Rest assured that detours should allow this work to occur unimpeded all summer.”
Detour A:
Work being done from CR 44 to CSAH 7.
Detour from Pike Lake Road will be turn right (south) onto CR 44 which brings you to CSAH 7.
Detour B:
Work being done from Cascade River west to Babineau Corner.
Detour from Pike Lake Road will be head north to Cascade River Road, turn right (south) onto Bally Creek Road, turn right (south) onto CR 48 and head south to CSAH 7.
Detour C:
Work being done adjacent to CR 44 intersection on west side.
Detour will be from Pike Lake Road north to Cascade River Road, turn right (south) onto Bally Creek Road, then turn right (south) onto CR 48 and head south to CSAH 7.
KGM Contractors Inc. was awarded the contract for $4.4 million. The work consists of gravel road reconstruction, ditching, road realignment and sight line improvements.
