The Cook County Community Fund, an affiliate fund of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, is accepting grant applications through May 1, 2011. The Cook County Community Fund supports projects in the areas of arts, community development, education, environment, human services and youth. Since being formed in 2003, the Community Fund has provided grants to WTIP Community Radio, Cook County Higher Education, the North Shore Music Association, Just Kids Dental Health, the Coalition of Lake Associations, and more.
In the past, grants have generally ranged from $500 to $1,000. This year, proposals for grants up to $2,500 will be accepted.
To be eligible to apply, an organization must be classified as a charitable nonprofit organization and be located in or provide services to residents of the Cook County.
To apply, applicants should first submit an inquiry at www.cookcountycommunityfund.com by clicking on ‘read grant guidelines here’ and following the links. Since its establishment, the community fund has grown to over $600,000 and grants have been made totaling over $30,000. This year, the fund plans to make grants totaling $10,000.
