Cook County Community Fund at Birch Grove celebration

The Cook County Community Fund (CCCF) will be on hand at the Birch Grove Community Center this Saturday, Sept. 29, in conjunction with Birch Grove Community Center’s 1 percent project open house celebration from 2 to 5 p.m.

Tracy Benson, with CCCF, said, “The public is invited to learn about the work of the community fund while seeing the many improvements at Birch Grove.”

Birch Grove Community Center Director Patty Nordahl added, “Guests can make a pizza in the new pizza oven, visit with friends and neighbors, and talk with grantees, supporters and board members of the community fund.”

This year the CCCF awarded $11,425 to the following area nonprofits for their work in our community: Birch Grove Foundation, Grand Marais Art Colony, Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department, Lutsen Junior Alpine Club, North Shore Health Care Foundation, and Sugarloaf: The North Shore Stewardship Association.

The Cook County Community Fund (CCCF) was created to enhance the quality of life for people in Cook County by attracting charitable gifts, making philanthropic grants, and providing responsible financial stewardship and community leadership.
