The Cook County Community Center Outdoor ice skating rinks in Grand Marais are now open, with plans to have the warming house open every other day.
Open skating hours through the holidays are 1-6 p.m. It costs two dollars to rent skates each time you come to skate, and skate sharpening is five dollars, but both services are only available when the warming house is open.
Because of COVID-19 rules, only 15 people can take to the ice at one time on each rink. Skaters must also social distance when they skate.
If there is a throng of folks who want to be on a rink—or both rinks– at one time, some may be asked to leave and come back at another time to keep everyone safe.
Only ten people or two families can be in the warming house at the same time. All who enter the warming house are required to wear a mask and social distance.
There won’t be any food or drink sales in the warming house this year.
