Cook County Coalition of Lake Associations—CCCoLA

Our state has over 500 lake associations. Cook County Coalition of Lake Associations includes 17 Lake and Road associations representing over 1000 lakeshore, road, and landowners focusing on issues of common interest such as promoting and implementing sound and responsible management practices for lakes, waterways, wetlands, and shorelands. The Coalition serves as an umbrella group bringing these associations together to better understand and implement practices that preserve water quality and environmental integrity. CCCoLA works to ensure its members’ voices are considered by local and state agencies, policymakers, and other entities whose decisions and actions impact Cook County waters and lands.

As we look to the 2023 season, we met in March to map out the path we will be pursuing this year. This will include continued efforts for education, awareness, and action to mitigate the introduction and spread of AIS (Aquatic Invasive Species) within our lakes; a “get the lead out” campaign to reduce and replace the use of lead in the fishing tackle; reduce the use of plastics that have a negative impact on our lakes and soil; and increase awareness and outreach regarding stewardship of our lakes, rivers, and land.

You can access our website (cookcountycola. mnlakesandrivers.org) for history, a list of individual associations, meeting times and places as well as minutes of our meetings. You can connect with us by email as well. (cookcountycola@gmail.com) We utilize zoom to meet in the off-season and will begin our summer in-person meetings in June through September.
