Cook County Coalition of Lake Associations

CCCoLA is an independent organization that represents area Lake and Road Associations within the county. Our work provides an effective, focused means of advocating for water quality and resolving lake-related issues. Our first meeting of the season is in person on Friday, June 2, 10:00 a.m. to Noon, at The Schaap Community Center on the Gunflint Trail.

This year we are focusing on increasing awareness of CCCoLA within the community, supporting the work of County Soil and Water to address Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) and the Get the Lead Out program. These two initiatives impact the health of our lakes and are directly connected to human impact. COLA will assist in educating with boat landing signage, and information at our lake association meetings.

Get the Lead Out (GTLO) is an educational opportunity to address the decline of our beloved Loons. The Loons are ingesting fish and fishing equipment lost in the lake and this increase in lead within their bodies over time will kill them. COLA will have kits available for lake associations to swap out bait jigs and weights for non-lead equipment.
