The Cook County High School Basketball team travelled to Ely this past week to take part in the Ely Holiday tournament.
On Tuesday, December 27, the boys squared off against the Ely Timberwolves and lost 87-22. Cook County scored 12 points in the first half and ten in the second.
Sophomore Denali Blackwell led the team in scoring with ten points. Denali also had one block in the game. Fellow sophomore Rohan Rude added six points and two assists. Senior guard Derek Smith finished with three points.
With the loss the boys’ record fell to 0-2 on the year.
On Wednesday, the boys played Bigfork in the Holiday tourney. The score wasn’t available at press time.
The boys first home game of the New Year will be played Friday, January 6 against Floodwood Polar Bears. The boys’ varsity takes the floor at 4:45 p.m. with the girls’ varsity seeing action at 6:30 p.m.
