To the citizens of Grand Marais:
I am Joshua Jorgenson’s aunt and godmother. I have visited Grand Marais many times to visit Josh and his family, and have always been appreciative of the natural beauty of this town.
When my brother Gary and his family moved to Grand Marais, I was worried about how they would adjust. Gary has five siblings and Ann has eight. Much of their social life and support came from their extended families. How would they get along without us?
I spent a week with Gary and his family during Josh’s tragedy. Now I know how they can get along without us; they have a second family in Grand Marais.
I sincerely want to thank the entire community for the compassion and aid shown to the Jorgenson and Evenson families. Everything you did was exceptional; the food that so many people provided, the lodging, the use of the community center, the offers to help keep the Java Moose open for the family, and the participants in Josh’s memorial service. There wasn’t anything the family needed that someone from your town didn’t willingly provide.
Thank you, people of Grand
Marais, for making my family part of your family. The natural beauty of Grand Marais pales in comparison to the spirit and fellowship of your citizens.
