Community support grows community foundation

On behalf of the Cook County Community Foundation, I am writing to express our gratitude to area residents for your support of our work through 2011.

Last year we added $73,683 to our endowment, including a wonderful and inspiring single gift of $50,000 from an anonymous donor. These gifts made possible the awarding of grants of up to $2,500 to 11 different Cook County organizations in 2011, and a total of over $30,000 granted since we began our work almost ten years ago. We hope to grant close to $10,000 this year, and remind area non-profits that the deadline for this year’s grant applications is May 1.

Please see our webpage at www.cookcountycommunityfund.org for details on applying. We also encourage everyone to visit that webpage, or www. guide2giving.com, to access the Cook County Guide to Giving, which provides contact information for area volunteer and nonprofit groups who are working to improve the quality of life for everyone in this area.

The mission of the Cook County Community Foundation is to support the work of area charities both by awarding a range of annual grants to advance and expand their work, and by building an endowment to make sure that this good work continues for generations to come.

We thank area residents for your support of these efforts, and look forward to working with you in service to this area we are privileged to call home.
