Every day, the country’s community health centers like Sawtooth Mountain Clinic provide high-quality health care, improve health outcomes, and narrow health disparities to the betterment of their community’s most vulnerable citizens.
The focus of National Health Center Week, August 8 – 14, is on the “chemistry of strong communities.” Community health centers are the nucleus of an equation that’s helping millions of Americans muscle through and beyond the pandemic.
This compound results from the grit, perseverance, creativity, and dedication of health center Board members and staff to always be there for everyone who needs our services.
Here in Cook County and across the country, the demand for preventive care services remains profound, and especially now, because of the burgeoning unmet needs that so many patients have put aside during the pandemic.
As society starts to emerge from the pandemic, our residents should know that community health centers are open not just to provide preventive medical and dental care but to help manage myriad chronic physical and mental health conditions, including substance use disorder.
This is no ordinary moment in time, but today, just as we have for nearly 50 years, community health centers stand ready to do everything in our power to keep our communities strong.
Sincerely,
Kate Surbaugh, CEO
