Community Fund workshop presented April 22

The Cook County Community Fund (CCCF) will hold a free workshop for nonprofit staff and board members on April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at North House Folk School.

The workshop includes an overview of the fundamental roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members, with an emphasis on working with others to execute a nonprofit organization’s mission and vision. Nonprofit board governance topics and leadership models will also be explored.

This interactive workshop will engage participants in identifying best practices that meet the unique and changing needs of their boards and local communities. The workshop is ideal for board members, executive directors and staff members who wish to clarify the appropriate roles of each in the successful operation of a nonprofit organization. To register, send an email to directory@northernwilds.com. People are encouraged to register early, as space will be limited.

The workshop leader is Mariann Johnson, lead consultant with M.T. Johnson and Associates, a Minneapolis organization development firm.

The Cook County Community Fund (CCCF) was created to enhance the quality of life for people in Cook County by attracting charitable gifts, making philanthropic grants, and providing responsible financial stewardship and community leadership. Last year the CCCF awarded $11,425 to the following area nonprofits for their work in our community: Birch Grove Foundation, Grand Marais Art Colony, Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department, Lutsen Junior Alpine Club, North Shore Health Care Foundation, and Sugarloaf: The North Shore Stewardship Association.
