This past fall we asked those who love our community to step forward and support the Cook County Community Fund. The fund, an affiliate of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, is a permanent endowment that supports nonprofits in the region.
The Cook County Community Fund offers a way for individuals and businesses to support the community they love today with a gift that lasts forever. Through hundreds of gifts over the past decade, the Cook County Community Fund has built a permanent endowment that has awarded over $30,000 to regional nonprofits since our founding in 2003.
In 2010, the Cook County Community Fund Advisory Committee set a goal of building the endowment by $20,000. To jumpstart our efforts, the Grand Portage Reservation Tribal Council offered us a 1:1 match for the first $2,500 we raised. I’m excited to announce we raised more than $21,000, thanks to strong community support.
This would not be possible without the support of generous individuals and businesses such as Minnesota Power that have a special place in their hearts for Cook County. For this, thank you. Looking ahead, there is still much to be done and any support goes a long way in improving the quality of life in Cook County.
If you missed our year-end challenge and are interested in supporting the Cook County Community Fund, please consider a gift at any time. To make a gift, visit www.cookcountycommunityfund.com and click on the “donate now” button and note that you’d like the gift to go to the Cook County Community Fund. Non-profits have until May 1 to submit a proposal to the Cook County Community Fund. Guidelines are available at: www.cookcountycommunityfund.com. Also, stay tuned for additional details about a free informational and fundraising training session coming up March 8.
In the meantime, on behalf of the entire Cook County Community Fund Advisory Committee, thank you for all you did to make 2010 great and may 2011 be even better!
