Community Foundation offers nonprofits funds for projects

The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation is seeking nonprofits and government agencies with project ideas for grants available through its funds with March 1 application deadlines.

“This grant round is one of our largest of the year with a focus on specific communities throughout the Northland. It offers unique opportunity for organizations seeking funds for projects to make communities better,” said Michelle Morris, director of Community Philanthropy for the Community Foundation. “If you have an idea and are seeking funds to make it a reality, we encourage you to apply.”

The first step is submitting a letter of intent to apply, which briefly outlines the project idea to the Community Foundation. A letter of intent allows the Community Foundation to review the idea and to briefly communicate with the prospective grant applicant.

Letters of intent are due no later than 5 p.m. Feb. 15, two weeks before the grant application deadline, and are submitted through the Community Foundation’s website, dsacommunityfoundation.com. Early letter submissions are encouraged. Letters approved can apply for grants by 5 p.m. March 1, also through the website.

Locally, grants funds with Feb. 15 letter of intent and March 1 application deadlines are the Cook County Community Fund, which funds community projects and supports good work throughout Cook County.
