Community Center project is misguided

In regard to the Community Center project, my one big question to the county commissioners is, “Have you lost your mind?”

How many pools do you need in Grand Marais? You are acting like a bunch of 18 year olds with a new $100 bill in each of your pockets that you just have to spend.

The one thing you all have not stated is who is going to pay for the maintenance of this behemoth for the next 30 years or more once it’s built?

And how much is that going to be?

You’re going to spend this kind of money with no return cash flow guarantees, only speculation?

Instead of this misguided project, how about investing the money in the hospital.

It could be brought up to a new standard. Call it what you want, all we have now is a really big clinic and a triage center. Anything past the cold and flu or a sprain they ship to Duluth.

We ship so many patients by land and air per year, it would be cheaper to put in a rail line for a shuttle.

There are so many things the people in this county need, and you pick this. Somebody should hold a competency hearing for all of you.

And no, I’m not sitting in the cheap seats. I’m sitting in the taxed seats.
