Attention Veterans

Please join us on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 for a Greet and Meet at the Senior Center, 10 Broadway in Grand Marais, MN at 5:00 p.m. The following will be present to share new information and answer questions: Pat Strand, Cook County Veteran Service Officer; Clarence Everson, Tribal Veteran Service Officer; Vince Sando, Lake County Veteran Service Officer; Trent Dilkes, Hospital Service Coordinator St. Cloud; and Toni Thorstad and Mike Lacsamana from MN Assistance Council for Veterans.

Grand Marais Garden Club Meeting

The Grand Marais Garden club will meet at the Senior Center August 8 for a business meeting followed by a tour of Diane Nowers’ wonderful woodland garden. We will join the West End Garden Club for a brown bag picnic lunch and a tour of Sugarloaf Nature Center August 17.

Cook County Ruby’s Pantry

Ruby’s Pantry is a food distribution program held 5 – 6:30 p.m., every second Tuesday: August 9, September 13, October 11. Parking at Sawtooth Elementary. $20 (cash only) per share. Buy more shares as you want. No financial qualifications. Bring a laundry basket and cooler to bring home frozen items. Sponsored by Spirit of the Wilderness Church. Volunteers always needed. $20 gift certificates have been donated to help those short on cash – just ask cashier. Donations always welcome!

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.

Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on September 6 at the Cook County Community YMCA from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
