Care Partner Volunteer Training
The gift of friendship can mean a lot for those on the journey of aging or serious illness—someone to hear their stories or be with them. Care Partners Volunteers provide on-going friendly visits, a compassionate presence at end-of-life, phone check-ins, or caregiver respite—each volunteer finds their own niche. Training begins Friday, April 8 from 4:30-8 p.m. and concludes Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration required. Call 387-3788 for more information.
Cook County Ruby’s Pantry
Cook County Ruby’s Pantry is a surplus food distribution program. 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Every second Tuesday of the month. (April 12, May 10, June 14, July 12, August 16, September 13). Please use elementary school for parking. $20 cash only per share – buy more shares as you want, no financial qualifications. Bring a laundry basket and a cooler to bring home frozen items. Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic
The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.
Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening
The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on April 5, Cook County Whole Foods Coop from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
