Empty Bowls 2015

All are invited to Empty Bowls 2015, the annual fundraiser for community hunger programs. Thursday, Nov. 12 in the lower level of the St. John’s Catholic Church: lunch from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and dinner from 5 – 7 p.m. Event includes a soup meal, handmade bowl and pendant sale, silent auction, and bake sale.

Knotty Carvers of the North Woodcarving Show

The Knotty Carvers of the North will host their third annual woodcarving show at the Proctor Area Community Center (PACC), 100 Pionk Drive, Proctor, MN, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7. The show includes a raffle of woodcarvings and sales of carving woods, tools, and books. Children receive a hand-carved loon zipper pull. Admission is free! Call Nancy Borson: 218-624-0121.

Public meeting to consider sale of Cedar Grove Business Park Lot

The Cook County/Grand Marais Economic Development Authority (EDA) will hold a public meeting, Nov. 3 at 9 a.m. at Grand Marais City Hall to consider the sale of Cedar Grove Business Park, Lot 2, Block 7. Any members of the public wishing to make comment may do so at this time.

I.S.D. 166 Regular School Board Meeting

The School Board of I.S.D. 166 will meet for a regular meeting Thursday, November 5, 2015, 5:00 p.m., Jane Mianowski Conference Center, 101 West 5th St., Grand Marais, MN.

Cook County Ruby’s Pantry

Cook County Ruby’s Pantry is a surplus food distribution program. New time 5:00-6:30 p.m. Every second Tuesday of the month. (Nov. 10, Dec. 8). Elementary school parking. $20 cash only per share – buy more shares as you want, no financial qualifications. Bring a laundry basket and a cooler to bring home frozen items. Two lines for less waiting. Volunteers needed and can get shares too. Contact lbspaulding@boreal.org to volunteer or with questions. Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.

Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on November 3, Cook County Community YMCA from 9:15- 10:15 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
