There’s No Place Like Home: Explore Cook County with Sugarloaf

1 p.m. – August 7, August 21 – Meet at Sugarloaf Cove. Enjoy an in-depth exploration of Cook County’s special places with your neighbors. Each week features a unique habitat to explore with Sugarloaf’s naturalist – August 7 – Inland Lakes; and August 21 – Lake Superior. Free. First Fridays Block Party in Grand Marais

August 7, 4-8 p.m. The Cook County Chamber, Grand Marais retailers and art galleries are holding a Block Party to celebrate summer, and being the Coolest Small Town in the USA. There will be family activities at Joy INC., refreshments, drawings, and music in Harbor Park. Come celebrate with us.

Cook County Ruby’s Pantry

Will be open 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the high school. Next distributions will be 2nd Tuesdays — August 11 and September 8­. Park in elementary lot or church parking lot. Cost is $20 (Cash only) per share and you may buy more than one share. Program is not income based so anyone can participate. Bring laundry baskets, coolers or boxes to carry food home. Cook County Schools Fall Sports Registration

Will be held on Monday, August 3 at 5:00 p.m. in the high school gym. All athletes and parents should attend (grades 7 -12) to register and pay fees for football, volleyball and cross country.

I.S.D. 166 Regular School Board Meeting

The School Board of I.S.D. 166 will meet for a regular meeting Tuesday, August 4, 2015, 5:00 p.m., Jane Mianowski Conference Center, 101 West 5th Street, Grand Marais, MN.

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.

Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on August 4 at Cook County Whole Foods Co-op from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
