July 3rd, 4-8 p.m. Grand Marais retailers and art galleries invite you to help them celebrate summer and being the “Coolest Small Town in the USA.” Come for refreshments, drawings, special events.

Northland Wonders Flower Show

Northland Wonders is the theme for the flower show to be held July 17 at the community center in Grand Marais. The Grand Marais garden club will host the show on Friday from noon-5:00 p.m. Come for the silver tea and view the floral arrangements. Admission is free.

Your nomination for these TWO separate special awards should be an individual (or couple) who has made Cook County a better place to live. Cook County Ruby’s Pantry

Will be open 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the high school. Next distributions will be 2nd Tuesdays — July 14, August 11 and September 8­. Park in elementary lot or church parking lot. Cost is $20 (Cash only) per share and you may buy more than one share. Program is not income based so anyone can participate. Bring laundry baskets, coolers or boxes to carry food home. Schroeder Community Clean Up Day

Thurs., July 9, 9 a.m. – noon. Lunch provided for volunteers. Meet at the highway divider walls on the west side of the Cross River. Bring digging tools and wear gloves and long sleeves. For more information, call Gale at 663-0053.

Cook County ATV Club Tom Lake Ride & Shoot

Meet at Portage Brook gravel pit at 11 a.m., July 11. Bring a picnic lunch for on the trail. Return to the pit or join us for target practice at 4 p.m. Different areas will be set up for rifles, shotguns, pistols. Bring your firearms, lunch, beverages, chairs and enjoy the day!

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.

Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on July 7 at Cook County Community YMCA from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
