Events at Drury Lane Books

Friday, May 22 – Monday, May 25: Drury Lane Books 13th Annual Sale. 50% off a wide selection of books. Saturday, May 23, 5 p.m.: Writer’s Salon with local author Chel Anderson reading from her new book North Shore: A Natural History of Minnesota’s Superior Coast.

YMCA Family Town Bike Scavenger Hunt

Families can compete in the beginner or challenging track of the Family Town Bike Scavenger Hunt. Start at the YMCA and bike around to take photos of people, places, or other things in Grand Marais. Race back and enjoy a pool party, snacks, slideshow of teams’ photos and awards. $15/family.

Cook County Ruby’s Pantry

Will be open 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. Next distributions will be 2nd Tuesdays June 9, July 14 and August 11- same time same place. Cost is $20 (cash only) per share and you may buy more than one share. Program is not income based so anyone can participate. Bring laundry baskets, coolers or boxes to carry food home. Dog park discussion

Go Dog North Shore invites interested dog owners to discuss plans for a possible future dog park in Cook County. Current and future dog park users are encouraged to attend Monday, May 18 at 6 p.m. at the Community Center Log Building in Grand Marais. Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.

Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on June 2 at Chicago Bay Marketplace 8:00-9:00 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30- 11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
