Alzheimer’s and other dementias

A community forum, April 28, 4- 6 p.m., Corcoran Classroom, lower level of the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic. Featured speaker is Dr. Terry Barclay, PhD, LP, director of neuropsychology at HealthPartners and Regions Hospital in St. Paul. There will also be a panel discussion with local professionals who work with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Generations at the Cook County Community Center

A community discussion about the five generations in the workforce and volunteering. How can we utilize our skills and strengths while learning to communicate effectively? Lori Rothstein, U of M Extension educator, will be leading the discussion at the Cook County Community Center from 5:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. Free food and free childcare during the event at the YMCA. Intensive Apple Growing Workshop

Saturday, May 2 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the 4H Log Cabin Building at the CC Community Center. Cindy Hale will be teaching about dwarf apple tree systems in the morning, integrated pest management in the afternoon. To register, please call Diane at 387-3015. Cost is $10.

Healthy Kids Day at the Y

April 25, is a free kids health fair from 1-4 p.m. Visit community booths and participate in the fun.

I.S.D. 166 Regular School Board Meeting

The School Board of I.S.D. 166 will meet for a Regular Meeting Thursday, April 23, 2015, 5:00 p.m., Jane Mianowski Conference Center, 101 West 5th Street, Grand Marais, MN.

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.

Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on May 5 at the Cook County Family YMCA from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
