Brown Bag Lunch
Violence Prevention Center invites you to call a
friend, pack a lunch and join us on Wednesday,
March 11 from noon to 1:00 at East Bay Suites.
Guest Speaker: Jennifer Schulz, author of
Grandmother Dreams, Conversations Across the
Veil. Jennifer is a local community nurse, currently
working as a Spiritual Health Advocate. She will be
sharing from her book and inviting discussion. Join

and registration meeting at the YMCA on Monday
March 9 at 6 p.m.

Parents Night Out at the YMCA
March 14: Parents Night Out from 5-8 p.m. at the
YMCA. Parents take the night off while kids play and
watch a movie at the Y. $10/child.

Town Hall Meetings
with Commissioner Frank Moe
Cook County Commissioner Frank Moe will be
hosting two town hall meetings. The first meeting
will be in Colvill Fire Hall on Tuesday, March 10 at
6 p.m. The second meeting will be in Hovland at
the Chicago Bay Bakery on Wednesday, March 11 at
6 p.m. Commissioner Moe will give residents
information about the comprehensive land use
guide plan process that is going on in the county.
A discussion will follow focus on if residents in
Colvill and Hovland respectively, want to participate
in this process. Residents who can’t attend are
encouraged to contact Commissioner Moe directly

Cook County/Grand Marais Economic
Development Authority March meetings
The March meeting of the EDA will be from 4-5 p.m.,
March 10, followed by board training on the open
meeting law. The EDA’s housing subcommittee
meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7 a.m.
in city hall. The public is welcome to attend.

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic
The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County
Department of Public Health & Human Services
offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais
Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month,
from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is
$10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak
your feet.

Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening
The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County
Department of Public Health & Human Services
will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar
screenings on April 7 at the Cook County Whole
Foods Co-op from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Senior
Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures
are free and blood sugars cost $3. For more
