Auditions for James and the Giant Peach
Auditions for Roald Dahl’s fantasy adventure for children, dramatized by Richard R. George will be February 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. Rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday 3:30 – 5 p.m. with performances April 17, 18, 19 and 24, 25 and 26. Specific rehearsal schedule determined by role. Auditions open to grades 1 to adult. This production will require large community involvement in set, costume, puppetry, scenic painting, video and sound. Please consider being part of the backstage magic! Schedule conflict will affect casting. Bring conflict schedule to auditions. Also, anyone interested in working on the running crew should attend auditions.

Parents Night Out

Borealis Chorale and Orchestra rehearsals
(Rutter Requiem and Messiah Easter portions) begin on Monday, February 2nd. Orchestra meets at 5:45 p.m. and choir meets at 7:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Concert will take place on Palm Sunday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Bethlehem. Bill Beckstrand, conductor.
Community Center outdoor ice rinks open
Cook County Community Center outdoor ice rinks and warming house open for skating Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m., Saturdays and days kids are off school from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sundays, 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. Skate rental is $1/ person/time. To reserve the hockey rink for your group, please call Diane at 218-387-3015. If the warming house is not open, you are welcome to skate anyway.

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic
The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.
Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening
The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on March 3 at the Cook County Family YMCA from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
