The role of county commissioner is one of increasing complexity, which requires critical thinking skills and an unbiased approach to decision making. A good county commissioner needs to be accountable to all his/her constituents while taking the time to understand the impacts of every decision and action on both the short term and long term effects of the community.
The county commissioner race in the third district is an interesting one, which includes current politicians as well as individuals focused on single issues, such as the community center. At this point in time the county commissioner role really requires broader focus and, in my opinion, a fresh set eyes and ears to understand and help solve the problems ahead.
Keith Kuckler is not afraid to ask tough questions. This stems from his desire to fully understand all sides of an issue to ensure the best possible short and long-term decision. Keith demonstrated his critical thinking ability time and again while serving on the Cook County Planning and Zoning Board. His decisions reflect balance between economic development, the rights of individual property owners, and the preservation of Cook County natural resources. His vote against over development on the upper Cascade River will have a positive impact on the environment for generations to come.
Keith’s background, experience, and interests in Cook County range from the construction industry to the arts community. His work in the construction industry has provided him with a good understanding of the land and people of Cook County. Keith is the kind of person who will listen to all sides of an issue and make a decision that is in the best interests of his constituents and Cook County.
If you want a commissioner who will critically look at all issues and then make decisions based on all the information, I encourage you to vote for Keith Kuckler in the August 10 primary.
