WTIP community radio is a great source of information about what’s happening at the Cook County Board of Commissioners. Our county commissioners appear on the AM Calendar at 9:15 a.m. on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of each month, following the county board meeting. Coming up on June 27 is District 3 Commissioner Sue Hakes.
The other members of the current county board are District 1 Commissioner Jan Hall; District 2 Commissioner Fritz Sobanja; District 4 Commissioner Jim Johnson and District 5 Commissioner Bruce Martinson.
WTIP Community Radio and the Cook County News-Herald are partnering to bring election forums to the community on air on WTIP. Stay tuned for the time and date of those broadcasts, where you will be able to put your questions to the candidates.
Commissioner Johnson has announced that he will not run for re-election in the August primary. Running for his seat are Gail Anderson, Rick Austin and Heidi Doo-Kirk.
Commissioner Sobanja is running for re-election and he will face Garry Gamble and Kelly Swearingen.
