WTIP Community Radio will broadcast a Cook County commissioner candidate election forum live from the Grand Marais studios. WTIP’s Jay Andersen and Rhonda Silence of the Cook County News- Herald will share the questioning, with the public invited to call in or e-mail questions before or during the broadcasts on Thursday, October 11 from 6 – 7 p.m.
The forum will focus on candidates in Commissioner districts 2 and 4.
District 2 Incumbent Fritz Sobanja is running for re-election. He is being challenged by Garry Gamble.
The second commissioner race is for District 4, currently held by Commissioner Jim Johnson who did not run for re-election. Running for his board seat are Rick Austin and Heidi Doo-Kirk.
Coming up on Thursday, October 18 will be another election forum featuring Grand Marais mayoral candidates, incumbent Larry “Bear” Carlson and challenger Adam Harju. They will followed by the candidates running for vacant seats on the School District 166 board, Lorrinda “Sissy” Lunde and Ed Bolstad.
Tune in to WTIP at 90.7 Grand Marais; 90.1 Grand Portage; or 91.7 Gunflint Trail on the night of the forums to hear from the candidates.
