Comments wanted on Forest Stewardship Program





The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that public comments on the five-year strategic plan for the Forest Stewardship Program would be collected through June 12.

The plan addresses the status and accomplishments of the Forest Stewardship Program and the emerging opportunities for family forest stewardship in the state.

The draft plan has been developed with the participation of a diverse advisory committee that includes representatives from the USDA Forest Service, Minnesota DNR, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Minnesota Forestry Association, Minnesota Forest Resources Council, University of Minnesota Extension, Trout Unlimited, Minnesota Association of Consulting Foresters and Dovetail Partners.

The draft plan can be downloaded at www.mndnr.gov/grants/ forestmgmt/stewardship.html or viewed in person by visiting the DNR office at 500 Lafayette Road in St. Paul.
