The Superior National Forest has proposed the ShokoShoe timber sale located 20 miles north of Grand Marais. Comments on the Environmental Analysis (EA) are due to Gunflint District Ranger Nancy Larson by April 30. The EA (with maps) is available online and hard copy by calling Ranger Larson’s office at (218) 387- 1750.
The timber sale will clear-cut to water’s edge of the following lakes: East Otter, Birch, Poplar, Leo, Moss, Squint Lake, Hungry Jack (entire north shore), Bearskin, Wampus, Quiver, Shoko, Aspen, East Bearskin, Flour, Bear Cub and Swamper.
The timber sale will clear-cut within 250 feet of the shoreline of the following lakes: Onion, Cucumber, Jim, Little Jim, Shoe, Squash and Bean.
