Vander Heiden qualifies for Chancellor’s Award

Hannah Vander Heiden, who is majoring in health wellness & fitness and psychology, received the Chancellor’s Award for the fall term at UW-Stout, Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University.

The award is presented to students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

UW-Stout, established in 1891, prides itself on the success of its students in the workplace, with an employment rate at or above 97 percent for recent graduates.

Three local students on Bemidji State University dean’s list

Julia Larsen and Jessica Neel, Grand Marais, and Tarin Hanson, Lutsen, all qualified for the fall dean’s list at Bemidji State University.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, BSU students must be enrolled for at least 12 credits and earn a 3.5 GPA during the semester. A total of 1,123 students earned fall 2017 dean’s list honors at Bemidji State University.

McMillan named to dean’s list

Magdalynn (Maggy) McMillan, Grand Marais, was named to the fall semester dean’s list at St. Cloud State University.

To be eligible for the honor, students must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Maggy is enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts, Women’s Studies.

Local students named to dean’s list at Bethel University

Two CCHS graduates, Marin Hay, a junior from Grand Marais and the daughter of Mary and John Hay, and Alyssa Martinson, a sophomore from Schroeder and the daughter of Bruce and Sheryl Martinson, were both named to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the fall 2017 semester at Bethel University, St. Paul.

The dean’s list honors students who achieve an outstanding scholastic record during a semester with a grade point average of 3.6 or greater.

Chmelik named to St. Olaf College dean’s list

Carl Chmelik, biology, Cook County High School, Grand Marais, the son of Michael and Teresa Chmelik, has been named to the St. Olaf College dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester.

The dean’s list recognizes students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale.

Pedersen named to dean’s list at St. Olaf College

Twyla Pedersen, psychology, Cook County High School, Grand Marais, daughter of Leslie Pedersen and the late David Pedersen, was named to the St. Olaf College dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester.

The dean’s list recognizes students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale.
