Shannon O’Phelan earns St. Thomas academic honors
Shannon O’Phelan of Lutsen has been named to the spring 2016 semester dean’s honor list at the University of St. Thomas.
To be on the dean’s honor list a student needs to attain a grade point average of 3.50 or higher at the end of a semester in which he or she has taken at least 12 credits for regular grades and has no grades of D or F, or marks of I or R.
Shannon is the daughter of Maureen and Michael O’Phelan of Lutsen.
Krishna Woerheide earns UNL degree
Krishna Shiolbhan Woerheide of Lutsen was among nearly 2,800 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in ceremonies May 6 and 7.
Woerheide earned a Bachelor of Science degree in applied science from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
Delamater earns Northwestern academic honors
Trevor Delamater of Lutsen has earned a spot on the academic dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
The dean’s list is comprised of students who have achieved a semester grade point average of 3.50 or above while carrying a minimum of 12 graded hours. This semester, 375 students qualified for the dean’s list.
Delamater is a May graduate and writing/rhetoric and business administration major at Northwestern College. He is the son of Mark and Margaret Delamater.
Northwestern College is a Christian college of more than 1,200 students.
Cedar Adams earns Mesabi honors
Cedar Adams of Hovland has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Mesabi Range College. Cedar was recognized with high honors, earning a grade point average of between 3.75 and 4.0.
Cedar is a 2014 graduate of Cook County High School. She is the daughter of Julie Kean and Mark Adams of Hovland.
Mesabi Range College offers its students outstanding math, science, and engineering courses alongside courses in fine arts, humanities, and the social sciences.
Grand Marais student on Grand Valley dean’s list
Maggie A. McGowan-Stinski of Grand Marais has been named to the winter 2016 semester at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.
To achieve recognition on the dean’s list a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits.
Grand Valley is dedicated to providing a rich learning environment for students, offering a wide range of majors and hands-on research opportunities. Currently there are 25,325 students enrolled at the university.
Chmelik named to St. Olaf dean’s list
Carl (Joey) Chmelik of Grand Marais has been named to the St. Olaf College dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester. The dean’s list recognizes students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale.
Joey is a 2014 Cook County High School graduate majoring in biology. He is the son of Michael and Teresa Chmelik of Grand Marais.
Two local students earn St. Scholastica honors
Roman Schnobrich and Rachel Wieben of Grand Marais have been named to the spring 2016 dean’s list at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
The College of St. Scholastica is nationally recognized for quality. Rankings by U.S. News & World Report and Money magazine classify it as one of the Midwest’s top regional universities.
