Bradley serving in Vicenza, Italy

Private First Class Travis Bradley, a 2015 graduate of Cook County High School, is currently stationed in Vicenza, Italy with the U.S. Army’s 173rd Airborne Division.

Before being assigned to the Vicenza Air Base, Bradley completed basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He went on to complete advanced individual training (AIT) at Fort Leonard Wood to become a combat engineer.

After basic training and AIT, Bradley was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia for three weeks of paratrooper training. Bradley obtained his paratrooper certification by satisfactorily completing five jumps. To maintain his paratrooper status, he routinely completes jumps from planes in training exercises. Training recently included a jump from a helicopter.

Bradley was recently deployed for three weeks on a peace-keeping mission in Poland.

Travis is the son of Laurie Bradley of Grand Marais.

 

 

Olsen graduates from St. Catherine’s

Cecelia Darlene Olsen graduated from St. Catherine University on May 22, 2016, with a Bachelor of Science degree in public health. Cecelia graduated fifth out of 400 students with an overall GPA of 3.97. She also received the Latin Honor Summa Cum Laude.

After graduation Cece will be pursuing a full-time career in domestic violence as a legal advocate in Hennepin County.

Cece is a 2012 graduate of Cook County High School. She is the daughter of Brian and Marcy Olsen, granddaughter of Mike and Dolly Quaife and the late Alton and June Olsen, all of Grand Marais.

David Bergstrom earns UND degree

David Bergstrom of Grand Marais is among the more than 2,100 students who recently received degrees from the University of North Dakota. Bergstrom graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from the College of Education and Human Development.

 

 

Bergstrom plans to pursue a graduate degree in physical therapy.

David is the son of Scott and Lee Bergstrom of Grand Marais, and is a 2012 graduate of Cook County High School.

Three named to UMD spring dean’s list

Three local students are among those named to the University of Minnesota Duluth’s dean’s list for spring semester 2016: . Rose M. Ingebrigtsen of Grand Marais, a senior enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts, International Studies. . Sarah L. Deschampe of Grand Portage, a junior enrolled in the Labovitz School of Business & Economics, Management. . Lauren D. Thompson of Lutsen, a sophomore enrolled in the college of Education & Human Service Professions, Unified Early Childhood Studies.

Students on the dean’s list have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
