O’Phelan graduates from University of New Orleans
Sarah M. O’Phelan, daughter of Michael and Maureen O’Phelan of Lutsen, graduated cum laude from the University of New Orleans on December 18, 2015.
Sarah was awarded the Homer Hitt scholarship from UNO and earned a B.A. with an English major. Sarah is currently working on an internship for a writing workshop at the University.
She is a 2011 graduate of Perpich Center for Arts Education.
Stoddard named to Lewis & Clark College dean’s list
Melanie Stoddard has been named to the fall semester 2015 dean’s list at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
The dean’s list honors academic achievement each semester. Students who are enrolled full-time and achieve a GPA of 3.70 or higher, based on 12 graded semester credits, qualify for the dean’s list. Stoddard’s grade-point average was 3.84.
Melanie is a 2015 graduate of Cook County High School, and is the daughter of Jeff and Diane Stoddard of Grand Marais.
Michael McHugh graduates from Kent State University
Michael McHugh, a teacher at Cook County High School, has graduated from Kent State University with a Master of Arts from the College of Communication and Information.
McHugh is among nearly 1,700 students who received bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, associate and educational specialist degrees during Kent State’s 2015 summer commencement ceremony.
The university congratulates the Class of 2015 and welcomes them into its illustrious family of more than 227,000 alumni worldwide.
Jason Lee earns UW-Stevens degree
Jason Lee of Grand Marais was among the more than 700 graduates who received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point during the university’s winter commencement ceremonies on Dec. 19, 2015.
Graduates, their guests and faculty members were addressed by Nick Desien, former chief executive officer of Ministry Health Care. Chancellor Bernie Patterson welcomed the participants and Provost and Vice Chancellor Greg Summers recognized honor students and award winners.
Lee earned a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry management.
