Melissa Steele Graduates from Armstrong Atlantic State University

Melissa Steele of Grand Marais has earned a degree in Middle Grades MAT from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga. She took part in commencement ceremonies on May 10 at the Savannah Civic Center.

More than 700 degrees were conferred to candidates representing Armstrong’s College of Education, College of Health Professions, College of Liberal Arts and College of Science and Technology.

Armstrong Atlantic State University, part of the University System of Georgia, was founded in 1935. The university offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate academic programs to approximately 7,100 students at its main campus in Savannah and a regional center in Hinesville. Its diverse student population comes from 44 states and the District of Columbia.

Vermilion graduates from Cook County

Two area students were among graduates who earned degrees from Vermilion Community College in Ely this spring.

Jason Hughes of Grand Marais graduated with honors and earned an AAS degree in wildland law enforcement.

Jesse Johnson of Schroeder graduated with honors and earned a CERT degree in seasonal park law enforcement.

Founded in 1922, Vermilion is dubbed the Boundary Waters College.
