Sue Benolken earns honors
Susan Benolken of Tofte is among 2,272 Minnesota State-Mankato students named to the school’s 2014 spring semester dean’s list. To qualify for academic honors, undergraduate students must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours for the semester.
Minnesota State-Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,409 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
Brunsvold graduates Bemidji State
Erick Brunsvold of Grand Marais was one of 543 students who completed undergraduate degree requirements at Bemidji State University and graduated at the conclusion of the 2014 spring semester. Brunsvold earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

Abigail Dickinson named to Bob Jones dean’s list
Abigail Dickinson of Grand Marais, a senior English major, was among approximately 1,400 Bob Jones University students named to the spring 2014 dean’s list.
To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.0 grade point average.
Located in Greenville, S.C., Bob Jones University is a biblically faithful, Christian liberal arts university. The university provides over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs in religion, education, fine arts and communication, arts and science, and business.
It has nearly 3,000 students from every state and more than 40 countries.
Students receive Chancellor’s Award for spring semester
Three local students at University of Wisconsin- Stout received the Chancellor’s Award for the spring semester. The award is presented to students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or above.
Addie Gecas of Grand Marais is majoring in apparel design and development; Katherine Vander Heiden of Grand Marais is majoring in business administration; and Brea Boomer of Grand Portage is majoring in early childhood education.
UW-Stout, Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University, has 45 undergraduate majors and 23 graduate programs, including one doctoral degree. UW-Stout was established in 1891.
Three local students named to UMD spring dean’s list
Three Cook County High School graduates are among top scholars who made the dean’s list at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) for the 2014 spring semester.
Rose M. Ingebrigtsen, enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts, International Studies, is a 2013 graduate of Cook County High School and is the daughter of Dave and Patsy Ingebrigtsen of Grand Marais.
Kyle A. Martinson is enrolled in the Labovitz School of Business and Economics, Pre- Business, and is a 2013 graduate of Cook County High School.
Ryan R. Martinson, enrolled in the College of Education & Human Services, Exercise Science, is a 2011 graduate of Cook County High School.
Kyle and Ryan are the sons of Bruce and Sheryl Martinson of Schroeder.
Students on the dean’s list have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
