Angie Works graduates from Itasca Community College
Angie Works of Grand Marais recently graduated from Itasca Community College’s licensed practical nurse (LPN) program. Works was a 4.0 student and was voted online student of the year and received a $500 award.
Works was able to complete her prerequisite certified nursing assistant program through Lake Superior College. The classes were conveniently taught in Grand Marais at the Cook County Higher Education (CCHE) Building.
Works went back to school so that she would be qualified for a meaningful career in the health care field and be able to support her family. Her goal is to be a certified nurse mid-wife. Works has a very supportive husband, four children and works two jobs. She was able to juggle her busy life by taking classes online and at the CCHE Building.
CCHE was very instrumental in helping Works with the application process, textbook scholarship, use of their computer lab, and exam testing site. CCHE also had toys for her children to play with so that she could take them with her while she worked on her courses.
CCHE Board Member Donna Gestel congratulated Works on her accomplishment and said, “With hard work and the help of CCHE you too can complete your education and obtain the career of your dreams. Stop by CCHE and talk to someone today.”
