Minnesota Power Foundation awards Community Involvement scholarships
Alexander Ditmanson, a 2012 graduate of Cook County High School, is one of 20 recipients of Minnesota Power’s $2,500 Community Involvement Scholarships.
In partnership with the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation (DSACF), scholarships are awarded to students who live in the Minnesota Power electric service area, have maintained good academic records and have been actively involved in volunteer projects in their communities.
The DSACF determined the 20 recipients from many qualified candidates. “The selection process is always difficult as young people find more and more creative ways to give back to their communities,” said Mark Myles, Chair of the DSACF Scholarship Committee.
“More Minnesota young people are becoming connected to their communities by volunteering time and energy to support area projects,” said Minnesota Power Foundation Director Peggy Hanson. “Volunteering teaches them about civic responsibility and it enhances their education and leadership development. We are pleased to continue our commitment to ensuring that more young people are connected to their communities in positive roles.”
Minnesota Power began this scholarship program in 1998. For a complete list of scholarship recipients or to learn more about our programs, visit www.mnpower.com/community/education/scholarships.
