In February the Cook County Senior Center will continue to offer its many services, everything from an Arrowhead Transit pick-up spot to lunch and Meals-on-Wheels, from bill paying assistance to bingo, blood pressure screening, sugar testing, foot care, and computer assistance to cards, legal aid services and much more.

The Senior Center continues to provide emergency phones and call devices for community seniors. These pendants, wristbands, and phones allow residents to summon medical help when needed and provide security to help stay in their own homes. There is a $30/month charge for monitoring service and a $30 installation charge.

But one of the main missions of the Senior Center is to provide a warm, welcoming environment for folks to gather, visit and enjoy each other. In February there will be a variety of opportunities to socialize!

There will be a Valentine’s Day Party on Friday, February 14. A delicious lunch is served at 12 p.m., followed by a Musical Hearts Game and a special Valentine Bingo session. The cost is $1 for the entire session.

PS: Senior Center Director Bev loves Valentine Cards! SHHH! It’s a secret!

There are some great upcoming trips in February. Join the Senior Center for a trip to Cascade Lodge for lunch on Monday, February 10, leaving the Senior Center at 11:15 a.m. Lunch on your own, but Cascade Lodge is offering a 10 percent discount. Cost for transportation is $5. Pickup and drop-off within town are available upon request for an additional fee of $1 per person.

There will also be two dates for the Grand Portage Casino Express in February, a day trip on Monday, February 5 and an evening trip on Monday, February 17. Transportation is free for those who sign up by two work days prior and board at the Senior Center.

We look forward to seeing you in February. All are welcome at the Senior Center!
