The second annual Cook County Chili Cook-Off will be held March 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Cook County Community Center. Last year’s event featured an interesting variety of entries—chili with lots of meat, chili with white sauce, and chili made with wild game. And the proceeds went to a good cause. This year promises to be even better as the young men who won last year—Colin Everson, Will Petty, Seth Falk and Jacob Rude—will be challenged for the traveling trophy.
If you would like to join the chili competition, call Jamie Ryan at (218) 370-0262 for more information.
If you don’t want to cook, mark your calendar for an afternoon of fantastic chili sampling. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under, and children 2 and under are free. It’s all you can eat and everyone gets to vote for his or her favorite chili to be selected to receive the “People’s Choice” award. Last year’s honor went to Yvonne Gennrich and Mt. Rose Community Church with her chicken chili with a white base.
The proceeds of the event will be divided between the Cook County Food Shelf and the Feed My Starving Children program.
