This April marks five years of Gail and John Thompson’s ownership of Clearview General Store in Lutsen. Over that time they have made changes and added products to keep up with the demand of the community.
The biggest change has come recently with a new partnership with Mason Brothers Wholesale Grocery out of Wadena, Minn. This new partnership allows Clearview to widen their selection of both food and non-food items, at similar prices to larger stores. The frequent delivery schedule brings fresh items like produce, bakery, and deli selections, enabling Clearview to keep these items in-stock on a regular basis. Clearview has also expanded its freezer section to include a variety of meats, frozen meals, pizza, and ice creams.
As a result, Clearview General Store is now “Your Local Gas, Grocery, and More.” Owners Gail and John Thompson say, “We are thrilled about our new selections and being able to be a reliable resource for the needs of both our locals and visitors to the Lutsen area. If you want an item we don’t have, we can probably get it! Just let us know and we will order it so you don’t have to travel to Two Harbors or Duluth. We always welcome input for items you’d like to see in the store.”
As a Mobil station, Clearview is proud to participate in the Exxon Mobil Rewards Plus Program. The free program allows members to earn points on gas and in-store items. Points can be redeemed at any Exxon Mobil station for gas and other qualifying purchases.
In addition to Mobil gas and grocery items, Clearview offers automotive supplies, as well as live bait and fishing supplies. There is a wide selection of beverages and snacks, including drip coffee and grab-n-go goodies. Ed Eide of Eide Fox and Fur (Silver Bay) supplies fur hats, choppers, pelts and more. Money transferring service is provided by Western Union. Minnesota Lottery tickets, DVD rentals, and locally made items add to the variety that Clearview has to offer.
Clearview is a family owned and operated business in the heart of Lutsen. “We want to thank all of our shoppers for supporting us and allowing us to grow Clearview into what it has become throughout these past five years,” says Gail.
