I recently attended a presentation by Kristin Wharton on SHIP (Statewide Health Improvements Program). SHIP looks at working in the environment to facilitate healthy activities as opposed to targeting individual behaviors.
Of particular interest to me was promotion of walking. The addition to the sidewalk extension along Highway 7 has encouraged this activity and made it safer. The county’s new bobcat-snowblower for clearing the sidewalk is great!
I was thinking of how beneficial it would be if the walk were extended to include the Sawtooth Clinic, North Shore Hospital and Care Center, Sawtooth Ridges and Birchwood Apartments.
While I’m making suggestions, how about a walking lane on Highway 7 south of the Pike Lake turnoff when this section of road is resurfaced?
Hope springs eternal.
