The Grand Marais Chamber of Commerce Classic Car Show has been a kick-off to summer for almost 20 years now. Classic car owners from Duluth, Two Harbors, the Twin Cities and Canada join local car enthusiasts to show off their gleaming machines. The car show started with about 30 cars and now averages about 65. Plans for this year’s show, to be held June 11, 2011 on Wisconsin Street in downtown Grand Marais call for the “best show ever.”
The Chamber of Commerce has received permission from the City of Grand Marais to allow the beautiful classic cars to line up on Wisconsin Street, where it will be a warmer walk compared to previous years at the Coast Guard Point.
In addition there will be music at Harbor Park by talented guitarist Paul Pederson from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Mysterious Ways from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
The chamber also hopes to have booths set up in Harbor Park. If you would like to set up a booth to sell your artwork, offer a fun activity, or promote your organization, contact the chamber.
The chamber also encourages businesses to provide a door prize for the people who travel to Grand Marais to join the fun. It’s a great way to show off what your business has to offer, said organizer Bev Wolke.
Please contact Wolke at (218) 370-8904 or e-mail gmcc@boreal.org for more information. You may also drop off donations at Almost Home/Arrowhead Outdoor.
Be sure to mark your calendar for this fun summer event.
