Classes to be held on end-of-life issues and legacy planning

Cook County Higher Education is hosting a summer series of lunch and learn classes by the Cook County end of life doulas, A Better Death LLC. These classes are covering a range of topics intended to guide participants to a life lived with intention and educate on end-of-life issues.

“Legacy Projects: What will work best for you?” will be held on June 16, at 11:30 to 1 p.m. Legacy is what you create in your life that you want to be remembered for. It can be thought of as a person’s labor of love. This class is an introduction to legacy projects, includes examples of projects, and preliminary work on making a legacy project of your own.

“Funerals: No longer one size fits all.” will take place on July 14, 11:30 to 1 p.m. This class will feature a panel discussion on all the options people can consider for burial, from traditional methods to the more recent concept of green burials.

“Caretaking the Caretakers: There’s enough to go around.” on August 11, 11:30 to 1 p.m. Caregiving is very worthy work we do for those we love, and it is extremely demanding and exhausting. In this class we will explore tools and resources to support caretakers in order to maintain their health and well-being while they give so much to the ones they are caring for.

All classes are in person and live streamed at Cook County Higher Education located at 300 West 3rd Street, Grand Marais. Register online at mycche.org. Light snacks, coffee, tea, and water are provided. These classes are offered to the community free of charge. You can contact A Better Death by email at pcampanaro@gmail.com.
