With the gymnasium filled with family, friends and onlookers, 33 Cook County High School students waited patiently to receive their high school diplomas last Saturday, June 3, 2023.
The graduation ceremonies at the Cook County High School were filled with some tender moments and funny lines.
Following CCHS concert bands performance of Pomp and Circumstances and the Honor Song performed by the Chippewa City Drummers the program began with a welcome by Superintendent Chris Lindholm. Next Pre-K-12 Principal Megan Myer gave a tearful Soliloquy and then the band played “Ceremony of Winds.”
Valedictorian Gustaf Hahn followed with a short speech that was both humorous and poignant.
In her last graduation as Pre-K-12 principal, Megan Myers, who is leaving to take a job as a high school superintendent in Parker Prairie, Minnesota, introduced class Salutatorian Rowan Lindholm who gave a brief speech and then the high school choir sang “Humble and Kind” written by Lori McKenna.
High School teacher Amanda Beal was the guest speaker. Amanda, who has taught English at CCHS since 2018, talked about arriving when this class was in eighth grade. She shared her insights and small haiku poems about each student.
Rowan Lindholm, Ben Obinger and Kylie Viren teamed up to perform the song “7-years” by Luca Forchhamer with Kylie singing.
Senior Emmalli Myers presented the always favorite Senior Slide Show and then the class of 2023 was presented, diplomas received, and then the recessional played by the band.
