The December 31 Cook County News-Herald article entitled School lowers levy for 2012 reported that the ISD 166 levy would be 3.94 percent lower in 2012 than it was in 2011. Superintendent Beth Schwarz called the News-Herald to explain that this was because enrollment had gone down. She said the district always levies the maximum amount the State of Minnesota allows it to levy through its local “general education aid” levy. The 2012 levy of $947,256.34 includes this as well as an extra operating levy approved by voters in 2010.
